Become a Tutor

Tutoring others, helping them learn and grow academically,
helps you learn and grow as well. If you are interested in joining the Learning Center peer tutorial team, follow the steps below. Do not hesitate to come into the Learning Center to talk with our fauclty and staff directly as well.
   
For prospective math tutors:  Make an appointment with one of the faculty in the Learning Center to learn more about the steps for qualifying. One step involves taking a placement exam through the Math Department.
 
For prospective English or ESL tutors: Obtain a recommendation from an IVC faculty member in the English or ESL department (use form below). Once you have that, make an appointment with one of the faculty in the Learning Center for an interview (see Staff/ Contact Us). Bring your transcripts and letter of recommendation.
 
For prospective tutors in all other disciplines: Obtain a recommendation from an IVC faculty member in the discipline you want to tutor. This can be a professor you have had a class with or other IVC professor. Once you obtain your faculty referral, make an appointment with one of the faculty in the Learning Center for an interview. Bring your transcripts and letter of recommendation.

Faculty can complete it confidentially and send it to the Learning Center by email (IVCLearningCenter@IVC.edu) or enclose in a sealed envelope.
