On Friday, August 30, Irvine Valley College (IVC) announced receipt of a $50,000 grant from the Wells Fargo Foundation to support the creation of the new Irvine Valley College Wells Fargo Veterans Services Center. The announcement of the grant occurred along with the Center’s dedication and red ribbon ceremonies for the new Center.
“IVC and its student veterans have anxiously anticipated the opening of this unique space dedicated to supporting active service members, veterans and military dependents,” said Irvine Valley College President Glenn Roquemore. “This grant from the Wells Fargo Foundation will allow us to further our efforts in supporting our veteran students.”
The financial support provided by Wells Fargo will be used to help fund the needs of the Center and will help ensure that veterans attending Irvine Valley College receive professional, courteous, and compassionate support in pursuit of their educational and/or vocational goals.
“It’s an honor to serve those who have selflessly put their lives on the line for our freedom,” said Orange County Regional Bank President Ben Alvarado. “At Wells Fargo we believe we are only as strong as the communities we serve, and supporting our Veterans is an important priority for us. This resource center aligns with our company’s efforts to expand our outreach to members of the military, veterans and their families.
“This collaboration shows what can be accomplished when the public, private and non-profit sectors work together for the good of the community,” said Richard Morley, Executive Director of the Irvine Valley College Foundation.
