IVC Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society, in conjunction with the Honors Program is organizing an Undergraduate Research Information Workshop on Monday, May 2 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at BST 118.
The purpose of this workshop is to promote increased awareness among IVC students and faculty members of the benefits of engaging in scholarly research; alert students to various undergraduate research opportunities such as the Southern California Conference for Undergraduate Research (SCCUR), the Honors Transfer Council of California (HTCC) Student Research Conference, and the Bay Area Symposium; and encourage students to participate in research in a meaningful and substantial way.
The workshop will explore a variety of undergraduate research opportunities in various academic disciplines and provide students with step-by-step research guide and tips how to make the research experience successful. All IVC students and faculty members are invited to attend undergraduate research information workshop as it is designed for both first and second-year students who are planning to transfer to a four-year institution to pursue undergraduate research once they transfer. We will have several faculty members and students at the end of the event to share their experience and give tips and advice for those who wish to conduct successful undergraduate research.
