Irvine Valley's women's volleyball team Irvine Valley lost an important match at Cypress Wednesday night in four sets.
The Chargers came out on top, 25-23, 16-25, 25-23, 25-21, to remain in third place in the Orange Empire Conference standings.
With a win, Irvine Valley could have tied Cypress for third place.
The Lasers hit just .092 on the night. Sophomore outside hitter Allie Cook finished with 19 kills, 16 digs and four aces, sophomore outside hitter Avae Masaniai had 10 kills, 13 digs and six blocks, freshman middle blocker Haley Whyte added six blocks, freshman libero Becky Moodie had 19 digs and freshman setter Danielle Boyette distributed 38 assists, but it wasn’t enough for the Lasers.
Irvine Valley’s record dropped to 11-5 overall and 5-5 in conference.
The Lasers, ranked 14th in the state, will host conference-leading Orange Coast on Friday at 6 p.m.
Orange Coast, is ranked No. 2 in the state, stayed unbeaten on the season with a sweep at Riverside on Wednesday.
Orange Coast improved its record to 16-0 overall and 10-0 in conference with a 25-12, 25-22, 25-16 victory.
