Irvine Valley’s women’s volleyball team bounced back from a sweep at the hands of Golden West on Wednesday to earn a sweep of its own Friday.
The Lasers dominated in a 25-7, 25-10, 25-15 Orange Empire Conference win over Santa Ana at home.
The victory improved Irvine Valley’s record to 11-4 overall and 5-4 in conference, while Santa Ana slipped to 2-14 overall and 0-9 in conference.
Irvine Valley, which is ranked No. 14 in the state, was led by sophomore outside hitters Allison Cook and Avae Masaniai, freshman libero Becky Moodie and freshman setter Danielle Boyette in the win.
Cook had 12 kills and 10 digs, Masaniai provided 10 kills and seven digs, Moodie finished with 24 digs and Boyette contributed 32 assists and seven digs.
Freshman middle blocker Alexis Radecki chipped in five kills and sophomore defensive specialist Alex Goodman added six digs for the Lasers, who are currently sitting in fourth place in the conference standings.
IVC trails Cypress by a match for third. Cypress won in five sets at Riverside on Friday night.
The Lasers have a big match with Cypress next. The Lasers play at the Chargers on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Irvine Valley beat Cypress in five sets, winning, 15-12, in the fifth set the first time the two teams met at Irvine Valley.
The Lasers will then turn around and host conference-leading Orange Coast next Friday at 6 p.m.
