Women's volleyball team sweeps Rio Hondo

Irvine Valley's women's volleyball team improved its record to 5-0 with a 25-13, 25-23, 25-14 nonconference win over Rio Hondo on Wednesday at Rio Hondo.Amanda Kaee

It was Irvine Valley's third straight-set win of the season.

The Lasers, who are ranked fifth in the state, got 15 kills from sophomore outside hitter Allison Cook in the victory. Cook has paced IVC in kills in all five matches so far. Cook also had nine digs and a season-high five aces.

Freshman outside hitter Amanda Kaae added five kills and hit .455 in the match. Freshman middle blocker Alexis Radecki had four kills and six blocks and sophomore outside hitter Alex Goodman and freshman middle blocker Haley Whyte each finished with four blocks.

Sophomore libero Becky Moodie chipped in 10 digs and three assists and freshman setter Danielle Boyette had 27 assists, three blocks and nine digs.

Irvine Valley has a week off before its next match. The Lasers are at Palomar next Wednesday for a 5 p.m. contest.​
