Tom Pestolesi off to Mexico with USA Pan American Cup team

Irvine Valley Director of Volleyball and women's head coach Tom Pestolesi is off to Mexico with the USA women's Pan American Cup team.

Pestolesi is serving as an assistant coach for the USA squad.

The City of Ciudad Juarez is the host city to the XI Women's Pan American Cup. The tournament starts July 12.

The XI Women’s Pan Am Cup will be attended by a total of 12 teams, which will be divided into two pools.

Dominican Republic, Canada, Colombia, Cuba, Puerto Rico and United States will be in Pool A, while Argentina, host Mexico, Brazil, Costa Rica, Peru and Trinidad & Tobago will play in Pool B.

The tournament serves as a qualifier to the FIVB World Grand Prix the following year.

Brazil is the defending champs, beating the Dominican Republic in 2011.

The XI Women’s Pan Am Cup runs through July 20 and six teams including Brazil will earn spots for the 2013 FIVB World Grand Prix.
