Former Irvine Valley assistant baseball coach Jason Dietrich was recently named the new pitching coach at Cal State Fullerton.

Dietrich replaced Kirk Sarloos, who left to take the same job at TCU.

Dietrich was at Irvine Valley from 2002-06 and helped the Lasers advance to the Super Regionals in 2005.

Dietrich moved on from IVC to Cal State Los Angeles where he was the recruiting coordinator and pitching coach from 2006-07. He helped the Golden Eagles advance to the Division II College World Series where they finished third.

He then spent three seasons as the director of operations at UCI before becoming the Anteaters' pitching coach in 2011. And Dietrich helped guide UCI to a team ERA of 2.95 in 2011.
