Player Scott Kaplan and two IVC baseball coaches spending summer in Alaska

Irvine Valley second baseman Scott Kaplan and two Laser assistant coaches are spending this summer in the Alaska Summer Baseball League.Scott Kaplan

Kaplan, who was a two-year starter at second base for Irvine Valley, is playing for the Anchorage Glacier Pilots.

Kaplan, who was named an All-American player as a freshman for the Lasers two years ago, batted .255 with eight RBI for IVC this past season.

He will be headed to continue his college career at the University of Nevada after his summer experience with the Pilots.

IVC top assistant Tony Cappuccilli is the head coach of the Anchorage Bucs for the second straight year. One of his assistant coaches is Cameron McMullen, who just finished his first year as an assistant with the Lasers.

The Bucs are scheduled to take on Kaplan and the Pilots on Friday.​
