Former Irvine Valley left-handed pitcher Austin Alva was part of the Chico State baseball team that made it to the Division II College World Series last month.
Chico State dropped its first two games in the Series in Cary, N.C. at the USA Baseball National Training Complex.
The Wildcats won the West Region title and advanced to the Division II College World Series. Chico State notched its sixth straight 30-plus win season, finishing 40-19.
Chico State also earned its fifth California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) regular season title and reachd the College World Series for the eighth time in the last 16 years.
Alva, a junior, appeared in nine games for the Wildcats this season and had a record of 2-1.
Alva was 1-0 with a 4.60 ERA in 29 1/3 innings at Irvine Valley in 2011 and went 3-5 with a 5.03 ERA in 78 1/3 innings in 2010 at Irvine Valley.
