Irvine Valley's baseball team captured the season series over Riverside with a 6-4 victory over the Tigers in an Orange Empire Conference game on Tuesday at Riverside.
The win lifted Irvine Valley's record to 13-19 overall and 6-11 in conference.
The Lasers got a gutty performance on the mound from sophomore Jordan Geiger.
Geiger pitched a complete game, throwing 134 pitches, to earn his second win of the season (2-6).
He gave up 13 hits, but just four runs (two earned) and finished with three walks and three strikeouts. Geiger didn't allow a run after the third inning.
Irvine Valley scored the final four runs of the game to pull off the win. Down, 4-2, after three innings, Irvine Valley scored a run in the top of the fourth, a run in the top of the seventh and the winning two runs in the top of the eighth.
In the eighth, with two outs and no one on, the Lasers saw freshman third baseman Tim Ralston draw a walk. Sophomore second baseman Scott Kaplan sent a pop fly into short left field which fell for a double and sent Ralston to third base.
Sophomore center fielder Bryce Hara then sent a 0-1 pitch rolling just inside third base and down the left-field line for a two-run double and the 6-4 lead. Hara went four for four with one run scored and three RBI to lead the Lasers.
Kaplan went 2 for 3, freshman catcher Ryan Wagner was 1 for 5 with one RBI and Ralston scored two runs.
Sophomore shortstop Sean Guite also made a couple of nice plays in the field.
Irvine Valley hosts Fullerton on Thursday at 2 p.m.
