The Irvine Valley men's soccer team recorded its most goals in a match this season on Tuesday, beating Santiago Canyon, 6-1, in an Orange Empire Conference contest on the road.
Sophomore forward Fredy Razo had three of the goals for his fifth multi-goal match of the season and third hat trick of the year.
The goals gave him 18 on the season. Razo also has nine goals in Irvine Valley's last five games.
Razo scored the first two goals off assists from freshmen defenders Alan Banda and Ray Estrada.
Freshman Alex Cannas recorded the team's third goal off a pass from freshman midfielder Juan Martinez and Josh Ruiz had he team's fourth goal of the first half off an assist from Banda.
IVC led, 4-1, at halftime. Freshman Ricardo Guttierez scored his first goal of the season off a sophomore forward Brandon Mulhall assist and Razo capped the scoring and the 6-1 victory with goal off a pass from freshman midfielder Josh Popke.
Freshman goalie Diego Chacon only had to make two saves in the win.
The victory improved Irvine Valley's record to 11-5-2 overall and 7-3-1 in conference.
The Lasers are one point behind second-place Golden West in the standings. And IVC plays at Golden West in a big match on Friday at 3 p.m.
