Men's soccer team opens conference by tying Riverside

The Irvine Valley men's soccer team started Orange Empire Conference play on Tuesday with a 1-1 tie at Riverside.
The Lasers out-shot the Tigers, 16-8, in the contest, including, 10-3, in the second half, but could only find the back of the net once.
Sophomore Fredy Razo scored Irvine Valley’s lone goal in the eighth minute off a pass from freshman midfielder Juan Martinez.
Riverside answered with a goal two minutes later and that was all of the scoring that took place in the contest.
Irvine Valley freshman goalie Diego Chacon finished with four saves.
The tie took Irvine Valley’s record to 4-2-2 overall and 0-0-1 in conference.
Razo leads the Lasers with 12 points on six goals, sophomore Brandon Mulhall has nine points on three goals and three assists and freshman Eduardo Oliva has six points on two goals and two assists.
IVC is still riding a four-match unbeaten streak.
The Lasers play Fullerton at home on Friday at 3 p.m.
Fullerton opened conference with a 3-1 loss to Santa Ana.
