Moorpark beat IVC, 25-22, 25-21, 20-25, 25-23, in the non-conference contest.

"We played a lot of good points and had our chances, but we made too many silly mistakes in key situations," IVC Coach Tom Pestolesi said. "We just have to correct those and get better."

IVC, which was ranked fifth in the state, was led by sophomore outside hitter Annie Kim. She had 17 kills in 47 attempts with 10 digs and two aces.

Freshman Avae Masaniai had a season-high in kills with eight. Freshman Allison Cook added six kills and 13 digs. Sophomore libero Sarah Mendoza contributed 21 digs and freshman setter Sofia Furlong ended with 44 assists and six kills for the Lasers, whose record fell to 3-1 on the year.

IVC hosts San Diego Mesa on Wednesday at 5 p.m. before starting Orange Empire Conference play on Friday with a home match against Santa Ana at 6 p.m.
