The U.S. Women’s National Volleyball Team will hold two intrasquad scrimmages at IVC

The U.S. Women's National Volleyball Team will hold two 'Red and Blue' intrasquad scrimmages at Irvine Valley College over the next two weeks as it prepares for the upcoming FIVB World Grand Prix.

Team USA, which is ranked second in the world, is the defending World Grand Prix champions.

The scrimmages will be held July 23 and July 30 at IVC. Both matches will start at 7 p.m. 

Tickets are $5 per match and sold at the door. Daily permit parking is $2 and available at permit dispensers in designated parking lots. 

Irvine Valley men's and women's head volleyball coach Tom Pestolesi is an assistant with the U.S. women's program.

The U.S. Women's National Team begins its FIVB World Grand Prix title defense at Luohe, China, with contests against Serbia on Aug. 5, Kazakhstan on Aug. 6 and host China on Aug. 7.

U.S. Women's National Team Head Coach Hugh McCutcheon has selected as part of his 20-player preliminary roster - middle blockers Foluke Akinradewo, Heather Bown, Christa Harmotto, Danielle Scott-Arruda and Jennifer Tamas.

Outside hitters in the mix for the final roster are Angie Forsett, Kim Glass, Megan Hodge, Jordan Larson, Kristin Richards and Logan Tom.

Setters named to the preliminary roster are Lindsey Berg, Alisha Glass and Nellie Spicer. Opposites on the preliminary squad are Nicole Fawcett, Tayyiba Haneef-Park, Destinee Hooker and Nancy Metcalf. Liberos on the roster are Nicole Davis and Tamari Miyashiro.
At its most recent tournament, the U.S. Women's National Team claimed the bronze medal at the X Women's Pan American Cup held July 1-9 at Juarez, Mexico. The Americans topped Cuba 25-21, 25-16, 25-13 in the bronze-medal match after suffering a four-set loss to Dominican Republic in the semifinal round.
