The Irvine Valley doubles team of Tina Vuong and Natalie Loria ended up No. 3 in the final state rankings put out by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association recently.
Vuong and Loria were the top doubles team in the Orange Empire Conference, reached the semifinals of the Ojai Valley Tournament and then made it all the way to the semifinals of the CCCAA State Championships in Fresno last month.
It was the farthest an IVC doubles team had made it in the state tournament. Vuong and Loria had a record of 11-1 together during the regular season.
Also ranked in the state in doubles were Irvine Valley's team of sophomore Katie Billings and freshman Megan Miller. Billings and Miller were ranked No. 27. Billings and Miller, playing primarily at No. 2 doubles for the Lasers, had a record of 11-4 during the regular season.
Vuong and Loria each also made the rankings in singles. Vuong was ranked 20th in the state and Loria was ranked 24th. Vuong played No. 1 singles and Loria was IVC's No. 2 singles player this past season.
Vuong had a record of 14-0 during the regular season in singles and made the Southern California Regionals. Loria had a record of 7-4 during the regular season.
At the conclusion of the 2011 season, Vuong was named the conference player of the year and Loria was picked as a first team all-conference player.
