Women's tennis team suffers tough conference loss to Riverside

Irvine Valley women's tennis team finds itself tied for second place in the Orange Empire Conference after suffering a tough 5-4 loss to Riverside on Tuesday at Riverside. Both teams are now tied with records of 6-2. Saddleback leads the conference at 8-0. IVC plays at Saddleback on Thursday. On Tuesday against Riverside, IVC got off to a great start. Sophomores Tina Vuong, Natalie Loria and Katie Billings captured the top three singles sets. Vuong had no trouble in winning, 6-0, 6-1. Loria came out on top, 6-3, 6-1 and Billings won, 6-2, 7-5. But IVC dropped the next three singles contests, including matches at the No. 4 and No. 5 positions in three sets. Then in doubles, Riverside won two of three sets, including one, 8-6, to earn the overall victory. IVC's lone win in doubles came from Vuong and Loria at the No. 1 spot, 8-4.
