The Irvine Valley men's golf team is hosting a scrimmage tournament on Monday at Oak Creek at 11:30 a.m.
Cuyamaca, Palomar and Riverside will also be participating. IVC Coach Ben Burnett is excited about the potential of his team, which will feature 10 players.
"The battle for the top six spots in the lineup could result in us having a very good team," Burnett said. "However, I always tell the guys that we are part of the best community college men's golf conference in the United States."
Burnett said to keep your eye on Kyle Melchoire, who he said has a chance to challenge for Orange Empire Conference player of the year honors.
Another one of IVC's top players will be returner Steve Grove.
Irvine Valley officially gets its season underway next Monday, Jan. 31 at the conference Tee Off Classic at Los Serranos in Chino Hills.
The two-day event will wrap up on Wednesday, Feb. 1 at Los Serranos.
