Lasers win big behind Fulton's 18 points

The Irvine Valley men's basketball team ran its record to 3-0 in Orange Empire Conference play and won its fourth game in a row with a 76-53 victory at Santa Ana on Wednesday night. IVC, which is ranked ninth in the state, ran its record to 16-3 overall. The game was close in the opening minutes, but then the Lasers pulled away. Neither team took control of the game in the early stages as the Dons established a 14-11 lead nine minutes in.
The Lasers answered with the first run of the game as they put up 13 straight points to take a 24-14 lead four minutes later. The Lasers maintained their 10-point lead at 37-27 going into the half before the Dons pulled within 41-35 three minutes into the second half. IVC retook control of the game and quickly extended its lead to 21 points five minutes later.
The closest the Dons would get for the remainder of the game was 13 points before the Lasers took the game by a final score of 76-53. IVC was led by sophomore forward Travis Fulton with 18 points, four rebounds and six assists followed by sophomore forward Joe Eberhard with 17 points and five rebounds and freshman guard Ramon Mejia with 14 points, four rebounds and four assists.
Freshman guard Kalob Hatcher added nine points and sophomore center Ephraim Ekanem had eight points and eight rebounds. Irvine Valley plays host to a talented Riverside squad on Friday at 7:30 p.m.          Box Score
