Basketball team gets another win up North

The Irvine Valley men's basketball team won its second straight game and provided its coach with a milestone victory in the Monterey Bay Classic, beating Hartnell, 73-63, Friday night.
"We didn't play that well, but got it done," IVC Coach Jerry Hernandez said.
What the Lasers also got done was the 300th win for Hernandez.
The 16th year coach improved his mark at the school to 300-177.
Freshman guard Kalob Hatcher led the way with 19 points. He made two three-pointers and was 9 of 11 from the free throw line.
Sophomore guard Marcus Walters finished with 11 points, freshman guard Ramon Mejia had 10 points and sophomore forward Sean Donovan added nine points in the win.
IVC moved on to face Sierra in the final on Saturday afternoon.
The Lasers, 6-2 overall, are gunning for the tournament title in Monterey for the second straight season.
