Basketball team wins one of three in Glendale

The Irvine Valley women's basketball team beat Glendale to start the Vaquero Shootout this weekend, but the Lasers finished the tournament with two losses.

IVC started with a 62-44 victory over host Glendale. Freshman forward Megan Blackwell led the way with 14 points and nine rebounds. Sophomore cente Tyne McClure added 13 points and six rebounds and freshman forward Melanie Kashanchi added eight points.

The Lasers then lost to Antelope Valley, 67-50. Kashanchi and freshman guard Ashlie Washington each had nine points for IVC.
Irvine Valley finished up the tournament with a 73-61 defeat to Chaffey. Blackwell had 20 points and five rebounds to pace IVC. Sophomore guard Ashley Fajardo contributed 17 points and three steals and McClure added 12 points.
Irvine Valley plays again this weekend in the College of the Desert Tournament. The Lasers open up againt Yavapai of Arizona.
