The Forensics Team of Irvine Valley College is enjoying a record breaking season. Fifty-two IVC students have been recognized at tournament awards ceremonies this semester. The team has competed in tournaments on ten campuses:
Fullerton College, El Camino College, Claremont Colleges, Concordia University, University of the Pacific, San Joaquin Delta College, CSU Northridge, Grossmont College, Pt Loma Nazarene University, and Cerritos College.
Additionally, the National Parliamentary Debate Association has ranked the team fourth behind Texas Tech, Concordia, and Whitman. IVC's 106 points is the highest total the team has ever scored.
"This has been a really exciting semester. We've never had a squad this size before," said Debate Coach Gary Rybold. "The synergy of the squad has been fantastic. Our practices have a special kind of energy where everyone is actively engaged in the development of others. That energy carries over into the tournaments. It really makes competition a lot of fun. Adding to the enjoyment is a large staff of volunteer coaches who freely give their time to help the students reach their potential."
